As a funeral director, we are required to display certain business, ownership and financial interest information clearly and prominently.

Business and ownership Parkgrove Funeral Directors and Parkgrove Crematorium are one and the same company.

The ultimate owner is Parkgrove Crematorium Ltd, registered in Scotland. Company number SC064440.

Parkgrove Funeral Directors is part of Parkgrove Crematorium Ltd. It is not a separate company.

Price comparison websites

We have no business or material financial interest in any price comparison website which compares funeral director services, crematoria services, or their respective prices.

Donations and gratuities

Parkgrove Crematorium Ltd does not make charitable donations, charitable contributions, gratuities or other material payments to third parties connected to the funeral industry, unless separately recorded and disclosed as required.

Terms of business

These are the main terms of business for Parkgrove Funeral Directors. They explain how we are instructed, how estimates and invoices are handled, and the payment terms that apply.

Deposit
A deposit of 50% of the total estimated cost is required within 48 hours of the arrangement unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Final account
The final account will normally be issued after the funeral has taken place.
Final payment
The final balance must be paid within 7 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Late payment
Interest may accrue daily from the date payment was due until the date payment is made, at an annual rate of 1.5% above the base lending rate of the Bank of England.

Arrangements and estimates

When you instruct us, we will discuss the funeral arrangements with you and provide a written estimate based on the information available at the time.

The estimate is not a final invoice. The final account may vary if you request changes, if third party fees change, or if additional goods or services are required.

We will seek your approval for any significant changes to the estimated costs wherever possible.

The person giving the instruction must be authorised to make the arrangements and accepts responsibility for payment of the funeral account.

Deposit, payment and invoices

A deposit of 50% of the total estimated cost is required within 48 hours of the arrangement unless we agree otherwise in writing.

The final invoice will normally be issued after the funeral has taken place. The final balance must be paid within 7 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest on the overdue amount. Interest may accrue daily from the date payment was due until the date payment is made, at an annual rate of 1.5% above the base lending rate of the Bank of England.

Changes and cancellation

Changes to arrangements

If you wish to change the funeral arrangements after they have been agreed, please tell us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but additional costs may apply.

Cancellation

If you cancel the funeral arrangements after instructing us, you must notify us in writing as soon as possible. Depending on the timing and work already carried out, you may be responsible for costs already incurred, goods ordered, professional time, and any non-refundable third party fees.

Your responsibilities

  • You must be authorised to instruct us and make decisions about the funeral arrangements.
  • You must provide accurate names, dates, addresses and personal details required for legal and practical arrangements.
  • You must make us aware of any family disagreement, legal restriction, court order or other issue that may affect the arrangements.
  • You must review estimates, forms, notices, orders of service and other documents carefully before approval.

Funeral notices, photographs and printed materials

If you ask us to prepare or publish a funeral notice, obituary, photograph, order of service, donation notice or other public information, you are responsible for ensuring that you have authority to provide that information and approve its publication.

Once information has been published online, printed or shared with newspapers, charities or other third parties, it may not always be possible to fully withdraw or remove it.

Limitation of liability

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We will not be responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any rights you have under applicable consumer law.

Data protection

We will handle personal information in accordance with UK data protection law and our privacy policy.

Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any part of our service, please contact us as soon as possible so we can look into the matter properly.

Governing law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
