Jean Paton
𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒏, 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒆
On behalf of the family,
Our beautiful Mum Jean Paton passed away peacefully in Bearehill care home with her family by her side on Saturday 28th March aged 87 years old following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Beloved wife of our dad Dennis Paton who also recently passed away only a few weeks ago, she was a dearly loved Mum, Granny, Great Gran, Sister, Aunty and good friend to many.
Mum began her working life at the ADL where she met our dad Dennis and they married in 1960 when they were both 21 years old. After raising the family, she went on to work at the Montrose Pottery for a few years then with Joseph Johnston & Sons within the game department in River Street. She was then employed in the bake house of W J Johnston the baker in Castle street until her retirement in 2009.
She was friendly and sociable and really enjoyed the women’s club on a Wednesday afternoon and line dancing, both at the Cally golf club. She loved music and a dance, especially 50’s rock’n’roll and Elvis Presley.
Mum loved her family most of all and will be sadly missed by us all.
Like Dad, Mum’s wishes were to have a direct cremation which will be carried out by Parkgrove Funeral Directors.
Thanks to all the staff at Bearehill Care Home for the wonderful care given to our Mum.
Dennis Paton
𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒏, 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒆
With great sadness, the family share that their wonderful Dad, Dennis Paton, passed away at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, on Saturday, 7th March 2026, aged 86 years, with his family by his side.
Beloved husband of Jean, a much loved Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad, a dear brother, uncle and friend to many.
Dennis was a hard worker, having had many different jobs over the years including at Harry Maidens, working as a van boy and later a driver with the ADL, where he also met Jean. He had a short spell at Glaxo, was a driver with Lowfield Distribution, then went on to work as a postman for several years. His real love though was driving and he returned to working on the lorries with Jim Hutcheon and later Grampian International Transport until his retirement.
He had few hobbies but enjoyed refurbishing and collecting old Suffolk lawn mowers. He also loved making models and collecting vintage Corgi vans and lorries, proudly displaying them in his cabinet at home.
Dennis enjoyed holidays abroad, especially the sunshine and warm climates of Cyprus and Malta, but absolutely hated the cold and damp of the Scottish winters.
He was always a passionate swimmer and had a great “gang” of friends at Montrose Sports Centre swimming pool, where he was well known for his humour and cheeky banter.
A real family man, Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral private, at Dennis’ request.
