John Syme
Syme (Inverarity)
It is with great sadness we share the passing of John Syme, of Mill of Inverarity Farm. John passed away peacefully, in the excellent care of Storyville House, Kirriemuir, on Monday 25th August, 2025, aged 82.
He was the beloved husband of the late Louise Syme (née Watson), and in later years, loving husband of Maureen. A devoted dad to Alison, father-in-law to Robert, proud papa to Vicky, Rory and Tom, and a much-loved great papa to Sophie and Freddie.
A funeral and celebration of John’s life will be held at Parkgrove Crematorium, on Thursday, 4th August, at 3.30 p.m., to which all family and friends are respectfully invited. Following the service, you are warmly invited to join the family for refreshments at Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort.
John will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
George Hughes
Janis, Fiona and David Hughes invite everyone to join them to celebrate and remember George Hughes. A service will take place at Parkgrove Crematorium on Wednesday 10th September 2025, at 3:30pm. Refreshments will follow at Gayfield Football Stadium, where all are welcome. Donations in lieu of flowers will be gratefully received at the rematorium for Dundee Bairns, CLIC Sargent (Scotland), and Play Alloa.
John Strachan
Strachan (Brechin) Peacefully, at Roxburghe House, on Wednesday 20th August 2025, John (Jock), aged 97.
A dearly loved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jock brought kindness, warmth, and a gentle sense of humour to everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his love of family, his generosity, and the joy he shared in everyday moments.
Although the funeral will be private, in keeping with the family’s wishes, Jock’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Suddenly, at home, with his family by his side, on Tuesday 5th August 2025, Jake.
A devoted husband to Morag, much-loved son of Grace and the late Jack, Brother of George and Chris and a proud and dedicated dad to John, Nathan, Matt, and Charmaine, a loving Nephew and Cousin to many. Jake was a caring figure to many and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will be forever cherished and deeply missed.
A celebration of Jake’s life will take place at Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim, on Friday 15th August 2025 at 3:30pm.

Sheila Cook
Suddenly, at home, on Tuesday 29th July 2025, Sheila Cook. Loving wife of the late Raymond, devoted mum to Kevin, cherished Granny to Lauren and Aleisha, mother-in-law to Wijji, dear sister to Jean and the late Kathryn and Elizabeth, special Auntie of Sheila and Stacey, and a friend to many. Sheila will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service to celebrate Sheila’s life will take place at Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim, on Wednesday 13th August 2025 at 12.30pm.

Suddenly, but very peacefully, with her family by her side, at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, on Monday 28th July 2025, Susan Fullerton.
A loving mum to Barry and Kimberley, a devoted granny to Zak, Troy, Broc, Xander, Roen and Arlo, and a cherished mother-in-law to Lisa and Kenny. A special sister to Janette, Sheena, Peter and Andrew, and a caring auntie, friend, and respected colleague to so many. Susan will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held at Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim, on Friday 8th August at 12.30pm. All family, friends, and colleagues of Susan are warmly invited to attend.

A bright soul, deeply loved and forever missed. Peacefully, with her family by her side, on Sunday 20th July 2025, Louise, aged 23. A loved and cherished daughter of Kevin and Margaret, best friend and sister to Beth, adored granddaughter to Allan and Dorothy, Evan and Margaret, niece of Ruby and Colin, and a dear friend to many. A service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held at Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim, on Friday 1st August at 3.30pm.
